Ocean Master “new” in the New 52?

For those of you who don’t know, “What’s New In The New 52” is basically DC’s method for showing the readers everything that will eventually show up in The New 52, it’s a nice little feature they have where we get either hints at future stories or even just some cool concept art.

So many of you are likely wondering why Ocean Master aka Orm, Aquaman’s brother who was featured prominantly in the Throne of Atlantis story arc back last December and early this year would be featured in a “WNITN52” article. Well let’s see if their article can shed any light on this;

“Imprisoned in Belle Reve as a result of the events of “Throne of Atlantis,” Ocean Master is desperate to return to the underwater world he calls home. So naturally, when there’s a breakout, he knows exactly where he’ll be headed first. Unfortunately for him, the journey back to Atlantis is not as easy as it might seem.

Crossing his path are a series of villains – some of whom desire to challenge him to get their hands on his nice, shiny trident. And although Orm is not interested at all in the surface world, what happens when he learns that he could use his skills for a greater good outside of the water? Find out in AQUAMAN #23.2: OCEAN MASTER, which splashes into stores on September 25.”

Along with a gorgeous splash page by Geraldo Borges this is a rather exciting bit of news. Is Ocean Master going to look for redemption and start doing good with the extraordinary powers at his command? Will he attempt to gain the forgiveness and acceptance of his brother and the rest of the league? Or will he become another member of the Suicide Squad. It’s anyone’s guess and we’ll have to keep reading to find out.
