Following a major casting announcement, there is another big announcement for the Man of Steel sequel. In the latest press release it looks like Christopher Nolan has dropped out as Executive Producer and Geoff Johns has stepped up to fill the role.

The DC Comics Chief Creative Officer served as Executive Producer for the Green Lantern movie starring Ryan Reynolds that failed to impress most fans so here’s hoping the MoS sequel does better in the box office.

Currently Johns writes for the Justice League comic book which serves as advantageous seeing as how this movie is being set up to bring the JL to the big screen, Johns intellect of the team will be very beneficial.

This is a quote from the latest press release that announces Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons will join the cast:

“Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder are producing, with Benjamin Melniker, Michael E. Uslan, Wesley Coller, David S. Goyer and Geoff Johns serving as executive producers.”

This is very different as opposed to the first press release announcing the movie:

“The new film brings back Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder as producers. This time, Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas are serving as executive producers, along with Benjamin Melniker and Michael E. Uslan.”

There were reports of Nolan advising director Zack Snyder and writer David Goyer against having Superman kill General Zod at the end of Man of Steel but obviously they didn’t heed his advice. With the arrival of Chris Terrio to write the script for the new movie Nolan might have felt it was time for him to move on to his own projects.
