Earlier this week there was a report that the upcoming sequel to the Batman: Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Knight, was delayed until 2015.  Fans were furious and panicked.  This rumor spread like wildfire by people who either weren’t at the panel or weren’t paying attention during the announcement.  Well, fear not readers, we recently learned that this is not the case.

During the DC All Access panel at this year’s WonderCon in Anaheim, DC showed the Blur Studio’s CG trailer for Arkham Knight.  The crowd loved it.  The cheers and applause were so loud that most of the audience did not hear what was said next.  After specifically stating that the game would be released later this year, DC went on to talk about the sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The “not a 2014 title” statement referred to the new Injustice game, not Arkham Knight.  No other details about Injustice 2 have come out as of yet, but it is on its way.

Batman: Arkham Knight is scheduled for release on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 14, 2014.  Harley Quinn is a playable character via pre-order downloadable content, featuring her own weapons and abilities; the content also includes four challenge maps for the character.

The game will be released during Batman’s 75th Anniversary celebration this year, and DC will present the “Cape/Cowl/Create” art exhibit at San Diego Comic-Con International in July 2014.  The exhibit will feature contemporary artists painting on a cape and cowl designed by Asher Levine and based on the batsuit from the game.

Arkham Knight is set one year after the events of Arkham City and Batman is struggling to come to terms with what took place during that time.  On Halloween night, Scarecrow threatens the city with his newly-created strain of fear toxin and bombs planted throughout Gotham, forcing the evacuation of the city’s six million civilians, leaving just the criminals left to run havoc through Gotham, including new baddie, Arkham Knight.
