Batman prequel series Gotham has added a new writer to its roster: Ben Edlund of Supernatural fame. Edlund, who wrote for the smash hit CW show from 2006 to 2013, has a number of fan-favorite writing credits to his name, including Angel’s puppet-filled romp “Smile Time,” and Firefly’s “Trash” and, perhaps most beloved, “Jaynestown.”

Edlund will be writing alongside showrunner Bruno Heller, who formerly wrote for the show The Mentalist.

Gotham, which tells the story of Jim Gordon and Bruce Wayne before the cape and cowl, is set to air at 8/7c Monday nights this fall on FOX.
