Chip Kidd talks Batman. In a recent interview with DC All Access, the designer and writer behind Batman: Death by Design spoke about Batman’s character and his impact in the comic book world.

First of all, he’s a fictional construct. So he is interesting or well rendered as the creators working on him. So he has an incredible roster of artists, writers, known directors, animators who have… you know… there have been so many people who are so good at what they do that they make versions of him that strikes a chord with the culture and restarts the conversation. Beyond that, it’s this great escapist fantasy that we all want to be rich and we want to do good and we’re all scarred by something and the fantasy that you do all this stuff that he does. It’s an interesting, emotional narrative.
