There has been rumors for months that Jason Momoa would be playing Aquaman in the upcoming film Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. Today it was confirmed that he would be playing Arthur Curry, Aquaman. Jason Momoa is best known for his role as Khal Drogo in “Game of Thrones” and his role in “Conan the Barbarian”.

Rumors started about Momoa joining the cast of Batman vs Superman: Dawn a Justice back in December 2013, around the same time Gal Gadot was announced to be Wonder Woman. This is the 1st member of the Justice League announced since Wonder Woman.

Zack Synder, director of Dawn of Justice, called into a radio station to defend Aquaman.

“The cool thing is that with Aquaman, his trident — people don’t realize this — that could actually cut the flesh of Superman, if they came in contact,” Snyder said during the radio show. “That’s a thing that’s in the canon. And he’s super-strong, because of course, he can exist at these super-deep depths, so when he comes up here it’s like he’s crazy strong. … Not to say he’s in my movie, or anything like that, he’s just pretty badass — he has the potential to be badass. That’s all I’m saying.”

We will get to see Jason Momoa as Aquaman, along side of Ben Affleck as Batman, when Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters March 25, 2016.
