For the 1st time in 50 yrs, John Romita Sr. and DC Comics have collaborated to give us a Variant cover for the 34th issue of Superman, from current creators Geoff Johns and John Romita Jr.
The iconic Marvel artist spoke with Hollywood Reporter, explained –
‘I worked there in prehistoric times for about eight years, It was between 1958 and ’65. In those eight years, I did a lot of romance comics. The first time I’ve done Superman on a [comic book] cover, I’ve done a few sketches when we used to do crossovers, and a couple of paperback covers that had Superman on them, and I’ve done Superman on sketches for kids on conventions. DC called me and asked me if I would be interested in doing a variant cover, and I told them as long as it wasn’t a crowd scene, I’d try it.’
Regular series artist and cover artist John Romita Jr stays on interiors, Superman comic is scheduled for release on the 27th Aug 2014,
Take a look at the gorgeous piece and make sure to pick up this once in a life time variant!
