Lynda Carter on New Wonder Woman Costume

This past summer at Comic-Con in San Diego, the Warner Brothers panel was opened by Zack Snyder showcasing an all-new never-before-seen (and maybe never will be seen again) trailer for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” along with a shot of Gal Gadot in her Wonder Woman costume (battle armor). The suit had seemingly muted colors as opposed to the bright red, white and blue of her comic counterpart and that in the old television show.

Lynda Carter, the titular star of the successful “Wonder Woman” television show that ran from 1975 to 1979 originally on ABC and afterward on CBS, spoke about what she thought about this new costume for the Amazonian’s big screen debut.

lynda-carter-wonder-woman_0Well, I was missing the red, white and blue, I have to say.

I don’t know. I haven’t seen it yet, so I really can’t comment. Maybe there’s a lot more color in it than what we saw in the picture. It’s almost impossible to play a superhero anyway. You can’t. You just have to play a character that happens to do these amazing things. That’s the only way you can do it. And the costumes all take care of themselves, but it was a little more – I’ll have to wait and see. I hate to comment on something that I haven’t seen and I’m very supportive of Gal Gadot. I’m very supportive of them doing Wonder Woman, putting her in any capacity. I think she needs to be out there. … It’s high time somebody took a chance and did it and so I’m really happy about that.

Carter’s costume was much brighter in color and was heavily influenced by the comic book interperetations of the costume but it appears that she doesn’t particularly care for Gadot’s Wonder Woman’s darker look. However the final costume of the film may differ from the one that currently is the only official image of Diana of Themyscira.

Some fans have even taken to brightening up Gadot’s costume to make it look much more like the Lynda Carter costume, only with more of a warrior feel to it.

Which is better? The comic con release left) or the brighter version right)

What’s your opinion on the new costume? Do you think that the costume will look entirely different by the end of the film? Or will they change it for sequels and spinoffs?

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will star Gadot alongside Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill and will be released on March 25th, 2016.
