Recently Keanu Reeves revealed he always wanted to play one of DC’s most iconic figures: Batman.

Keanu Reeves as John Wick

During an exclusive interview with moviefone, the former Matrix star revealed he always wanted to play as two of the most famous comic book characters of all time, Batman and Wolverine, from DC Comics and Marvel respectively. While he has the fighting knowledge and the strong persona to play either character, we all know he never did get the roles.

While interviewed about his most recent film, a thriller titled John Wick – that has gained much more positive reviews than his last protagonic role in 47 Ronin, and after being asked if he was offered super-hero roles, Reeves stated the following:

No. I think I missed that one. I always wanted to play Wolverine. But I didn’t get that. And they have a great Wolverine now. I always wanted to play The Dark Knight. But I didn’t get that one. They’ve had some great Batmans. So now I’m just enjoying them as an audience.

While no super-heroic roles have risen for Keanu Reeves, he did hint he could very well direct a super-hero movie.

He has experience in playing dark comic book characters. Much like Neil Gaiman’s Sandman, Constantine is a dark and mysterious character from the Vertigo imprint of DC Comics, which houses not-your-usual-heroes. His role as Constantine was not a bomb, but it did not go unnoticed, and there is even a possibility for him to return to play the iconic master of the dark arts on the silver screen. Here’s hoping.
