Guillermo del Toro has finished the script for Dark Universe, a Justice League Dark film adaptation.

dark Director Guillermo del Toro has forwarded to Warner Bros. the finished script of Dark Universe, which is the title of the movie ta he conceived for Justice League Dark and other aspects of the dark corner of DC Comics Universe. Thanks to a report from Mark Hughes at Forbes, we have more details about it. Guillermo del Toro directly reported he finished the script instead of waiting for the news to be leaked as it often happens with news from the two current entertainment big guns: DC and Marvel.

Well, thing just took a big leap forward. Today, the completed screenplay for Dark Universe officially went to weekend reads at Warner Bros. The studio’s reactions to the script will be coming back in a few days, and the film could take another step toward production if Warner has a favorable opinion of what they see on the page. The director confirmed the script’s completion and status while I chatted with him about his FX horror series The Strain (watch for that article coming in a few days, dear readers!). Said Hughes.

Just like with the team working on the Shazam film, Del Toro continues with his approach to maintain the Justice League Dark film apart from the grand DC Cinematic Universe, either because he was not included since the beginning on Warner Bros. and DC Comics scheme or to work with the characters as he please in a way that works for his idea of DC’s dark heroes. Constantine, who is not having the desired attention on TV is set to star on the film, along with Swamp Thing and Floronic Man among others.

What do you think about this news? Which other dark heroes should star in the film? Should the film become part of DC’s future cinematic universe?
