Alura Zor-El, as she appears in the comics
Laura Benanti, of Nashville fame, has been cast in CBS’s upcoming Supergirl show in the role of Supergirl’s birth mother, Alura Zor-El. Alura is described as a “strong noblewoman” whose “wisdom and guidance echoes across space and time.” Benanti will have a recurring role as this character.
CBS’s Supergirl is produced by the team of Greg Berlanti (of Flash & Arrow) and Ali Adler.
The series is expected to premiere on CBS this coming Fall.
