Is anybody else missing their usual weekly fix for the DCU on CW? I know my life has been lacking minus Barry Allen and Oliver Queen. Here is a little something that might get you excited. Remember when the CW Seed show Vixen was announced? With SDCC coming up and all the talk about Legends of Tomorrow it was easy to get lost in the shuffle. It was brought back into the light today when news was released detailing who would be voicing lead character Vixen. The recent news also dropped a few recognizable names from the shared Arrow/Flash-verse that will be lending their talents to the upcoming Vixen.

vixenThe series debuting on CW Seed will follow the life of one Mari McCabe. Using her Tantu Totem that she inherited from her parents, she fights crime by channeling the power of anything from the animal kingdom. She was the first black female to receive a solo book in the DCU. From then on she has been more than just a member of the Justice League. She has also been a part of the Birds of Prey and the Suicide Squad. Vixen herself will be voiced by Megalyn Echikunwoke. Most will know Megalyn from her role as Penny on The Following.

In addition to Echikunwoke being named as Vixen, a few other heroes will be lending their voices to the new CW Seed series. Stars from Arrow and The Flash will be adding their combined talents to Vixen to confirm the shared universe between the three shows. Grant Gustin (Barry Allen), Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon), Stephen Amell (Oliver Queen), and Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity Smoak) are the first set of people to sign on for Vixen. I expect more to follow suit in the near future. Maybe after the animated series wraps we’ll get to see Megalyn making a stop in either Central City or Starling for real.
