DC You & DC’s Future Isn’t Slowing Down

Rumors have been flying around that the DC You is not meeting its expected levels of success, but DC Entertainment and the publishers are both saying otherwise. Bleeding Cool wrote (and we reported) that the DC You initiative, having a more indie comic feel with its characters like Batgirl, Harley Quinn, and new take on Commissioner Gordon as Batman, is on track. Superman, however has not been as well received as they had hoped and will be returning to his cape and spandex sooner than later. However, according to Dan DiDio and Jim Lee it seems that even with the DC You initiative’s less than stellar take off that it has not dampened the spirit of how things are going or the future that they have started to make. DiDio had this to say,

If you’re trying to build a fan base, a new audience, you’ve got to nurture it. You’ve got to take your time. You’ve got to take your losses…sooner or later, it’s going to take hold and hopefully be a leader in the business. Right now, our goal is to try to feed out as much product that’s as different as possible to try to attract the widest audience possible.

So even with all the successes with their television shows and their future releases of shows like Legends of Tomorrow and Lucifer it has no sign of slowing on the small or big screen with the highly awaited Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad. Truly DC has decided to not give up on taking on risks with continuing the awe-inspiring tales in all the media possible, comics, movies, and television. Jim Lee said,

Yeah, you can have all the spectacle and the CGI, but at the heart of it, you’ve got to have great characters and great stories…I think that as long as you have that, you’re going to capture the audiences and you’re going to capture their imaginations and you’re going to keep this business very vibrant and healthy.
