Warner Bros. Officially Casts Wonder Woman’s Mother

Go in peace my daughter.  And remember that, in a world of ordinary mortals, you are a Wonder Woman.

That’s right, Warner Bros. has officially found their Hippolyta!

Connie Nielsen, best known for her role in the Ridley Scott epic Gladiator, has been cast for the role of Hippolyta, queen of the Amazons and mother of Wonder Woman, in her upcoming solo film.

Wonder Woman will follow Princess Diana, demigod and daughter of Hippolyta and Zeus, and is said to be set during World War I  It will also star Gal Gadot as Princess Diana/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Capt. Steve Trevor, and Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis in undisclosed roles and is being directed by Patty Jenkins.

Wonder Woman is currently shooting in the UK and Italy and will be released June 23, 2017.
