Several months ago, a line-up of posters for Cartoon Network’s upcoming animated series’ leaked online, and one of those was for a brand new Justice League series, rumored to be titled Justice League Action.

Well, those rumors can now be put to rest.  In a press release Friday, Cartoon Network officially announced their new superhero series, Justice League Action.

Justice League Action

No official release date was listed, but several voice actors were confirmed, including to big-time, returning stars.  The series will include Kevin Conroy reprising his role as Batman, which he’s been playing since Batman: The Animated Series in 1992, making this his twenty-fifth year with the character.  His counterpart since then has been Mark Hamill as the Joker, and he will also make his return for Justice League Action.  They’ll be joined by James Woods as Lex Luthor, Diedrich Bader (the voice of Batman on Batman: The Brave and the Bold) as Booster Gold, and many more thus-far unannounced voice actors.

The series will feature a format similar to Cartoon Network’s current DC series, Teen Titans Go!, with eleven-minute episodes, a departure from the previous Justice League series.  The creative team helming this project is very familiar with DC’s animation world, including alums like Sam Register (Teen Titans Go!) executive producing, and Butch Lukic (Justice League, Batman Beyond), Alan Burnett (Batman: The Animated Series), and Jim Krieg (Green Lantern: The Animated Series) also producing.

From the press release:

Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman lead the DC Comics Super Heroes against their most infamous foes in adventures packed with relentless thrills, fun and action. No need to wait for the good stuff to start, each eleven-minute episode jumps in with lightning-paced action and heroics. Whether defending the Earth, facing invaders from space, or battling the bizarre forces of magic, the always-rotating team of Justice League heroes, are up to any challenge.

Stay tuned for more info on this new series as it comes out.
