Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is Hollywood’s number one blockbuster star! Everything he touches turns to gold, and he is currently at the peak of his powers. Concluding a huge 2016, he participated in a Q/A with his fans on YouTube, and as part of it he explains why he took the iconic role of Black Adam in DC’s upcoming Shazam film.

Warner Bros are keen to close the gap on Marvel on the big screen and with the jump Marvel has had, both Warner Bros and DC Comics would consider Dwayne Johnson as a huge Box office asset. It would be a slightly different role for “The Rock” considering he normally plays the lead or co-lead good guy. Black Adam is an iconic villain in the DC Universe, and is the arch rival of DC good guy, Shazam!

Prior to his Black Adam role becoming official, Dwayne Johnson has been at the centre of casting rumors for a while.

Dwayne Johnson says

“I’ve loved the role of Black Adam, I love that he starts off as a slave, that he felt like he was wronged. I’ve just loved that backstory. I think that Black Adam has always been, to me, the most intriguing superhero.”

The Head of the DC Films devision, Geoff Johns is a huge Black Adam fan so with his input the world’s biggest movie star to fill the central role it should be something all DC fans should look forward to!
