Mari McCabe, what can I say about her that hasn’t already been slashed across every newspaper, TV, phone, and magazine already. She rocks! Not just because she’s a model and philanthropist. She’s quite the Vixen if you get to know her!

This issue reintroduces the great and iconic character to the Rebirth era and she has come with a bang! As a reader with limited knowledge of Vixen myself I must say this interpretation of her is quite interesting. A mix of Black Panther and Bruce Wayne, with a huge splash of Girl Power. We are told of her history, how she came up in Africa, and how the Tantu Totem came into her possession.

Positives
The glitzy and glamourous art style of this issue is perfect for Mari. It shows of her flare but the shading can give her a venomous look all at the same time. Above all things, the depiction of the animal spirits summoned by Vixen amazed me. They are shown to be nearly solid and with an aura and color that is quite spooky yet beautiful. The ninth page really shows of this incredible way of looking at it that belongs on a poster and I’d love it on a T-shirt.

Negatives
As the title indicates, Vixen is going to be part of the upcoming Justice League of America. It is unfortunate because I definitely look forward to seeing her on her own adventures.

Verdict
Mari is a wicked character that is going to be a real mover and shaker in whatever series she is in. Readers should look forward to seeing her nearly endless list of powers along with all the good she’ll be able to do.
