Summary

The team decides to break the first rule of time travel, do not talk about time travel. No. Wait. The first rule of time travel should be not to talk about time travel, but the first rule is actually, do not travel back in time and interact with yourself. Why? Time Quakes and Time Storms and essentially crap storms. Bad news. Of course, they have a good motive; Doom world sucks.

Positives

In this corner, the White Canary, Sara Lance. In the other, evil monster, leader of HIVE, Damien Darhk. He has a sword, she has 1916 bayonet. They are in a WWI trench. They battle. It is amazing. Sara has been so busy being the captain, that she has not been able to unleash hell. Of course, when the enemy is the man who killed her sister, well, badassery is sure to be found. Did I mention there are two Saras? Oh yeah, there are two Saras. It does not go well for Mr. Darhk. It seems as though Ollie will end up killing him in 2016 after all after he spends the 80’s poorly dressed without socks.

Mick and Leonard have some heart to heart moments and some pretty violent moments. It is too bad that Snart had to go and get himself killed because there is little better than Purcell and Miller sharing a screen. I am not advocating that other network or another show, but this one is over, so…

Death to Eobard Thawne! Whew. I am kind of sick of him. He has been a thorne in the side of everyone for far too long.

Negatives

Nate and Amaya are staying on the team. Don’t get me wrong, they are great actors. The story line of Nate loves Amaya is a bit overplayed and annoying. I could do without that for another season. Still, with the exit of Rip Hunter, the team needs Nate.

Verdict

Season two was really good. It dipped and dived in the middle, but it was strong at the edges. Caity Lotz has gotten better and better as an actor. Victor Graber was underused as the lead, but he did get to sing, so that was fun. The season ends where season 3 will being. The Legends have screwed everything up and they have to fix it. Time travel stories are odd that way. At some point, we need to go back to the beginning or nothing makes sense. For now, they can keep screwing up so I can keep cheering them on.

Easter Eggs

Really? Goonies? Yes Nate. F’ing Goonies. Goonies never die! Lucas got a lot of love this season as did Tolkien. It is about time the director gets some love too.
