Holy Mourning Batman, it is with heavy hearts we announce that the great Adam West died Friday night in L.A. He was 88 years old. West had a short battle with leukemia according to his rep. West is famous for his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the classic 1960’s TV series. After the series ended West had a hard time finding work but found some cameos in The Big Bang Theory and voice acting as Mayor West in Family Guy.

West found his first major role in 1959’s The Young Philadelphian with Paul Newman. West wrote two books, one, titled “Back to the Batcave,” published in the mid-1990s, where he said he was “angry and disappointed” to have not been offered the chance to reprise his role in the Burton movies, despite being 6o in the late 80’s.

He consistently reprised his Batrole in various forms throughout television, including being Catman in an episode of Fairy Odd Parents which highly represents how he portrayed Batman. We will miss you Adam West. May you rest in peace and be Battastic up in the sky.
