Young fans and old can have a chance to see a Hollywood legend’s earliest roles before donning the infamous cape and cowl of Batman on MeTV in their tribute block, The Best of Adam West, this Saturday starting at 10 AM Eastern/ 9 AM Central.

Before the mantle of the Dark Knight Detective was inhabited by Ben Affleck, Christian Bale, George Clooney, Val Kilmer, Michael Keaton, and even voice actor Kevin Conroy, there was the “Bright Knight,” Adam West. In the mid 1960s, the Washington actor, who tragically passed away this past Friday at the age of 88, brought the Caped Crusader’s adventures to the small screen alongside his co-star, Burt Ward, as Robin the Boy Wonder. MeTV follows the cavalcade of heartfelt tributes from Hollywood and the DC Comics world by conveying to their viewers a seldom-remembered part of West’s decades-long career. Before the WHAM! BAM! And POW! of the 1966, West carried a six-shooter instead of a utility belt in various Western guest roles, such as Wild Bill Hickock in the series Overland Trail, and the reprised role of Doc Holiday in Lawman, Colt .45, and Sugarfoot.

A native of Walla Walla, Washington, William West Anderson made his first movie appearance in 1959 alongside Paul Newman in The Young Philadelphians, but made television his home in either the Old West or in Stately Wayne Manor and the adjoining Batcave. This block will allow audiences to see Adam’s range that extends beyond both Batman and his animated, self-effacing parody, Quahog Mayor Adam West, on Family Guy. Of course, as part of MeTV’s Sci-fi Saturday Night, bat-fans can appropriately catch the infamous two-part pilot (featuring the classic “Batusi” bar scene) in its regular time slot.

Or rather, as more famously put, “Same Bat-Time, same Bat-Channel!”
