Dark Knights: Metal #1 Will Have Midnight Release Parties At Participating Shops

Metal is awesome to listen to and come this fall, DC Entertainment is counting on the notion that ‘Metal’ will be awesome to read as well. In anticipation of the building fan excitement for DC comics’ next big event, Dark Knights: Metal, certain comic book stores will be participating in a special promotion that will be offering some really cool collectibles for those ‘Night Owls’ willing to stay up late.

In addition to standard variant covers, participating comic book stores will be offering lithographs marking the release of the first issue in the Dark Knights: Metal saga drawn by the legendary Greg Capullo. Here’s a look at both the standard color and black and white version (or as I like to call them the EP and LP versions):

Do you think Capullo was listening to Slayer’s Reign in Blood while drawing this (because I am while writing this story)?

In case you’re wondering, here a list of tour dates…I mean release dates for all the issues tied in to the story:

But what are we to make of this upcoming story? According to frontman…I mean writer Scott Synder, he had this to say:

“I’ve been planning METAL for as long as I’ve been writing BATMAN. But this is bigger than BATMAN. Greg and I started dropping clues during Court of Owls, we continued through our Joker stories and we placed our biggest hints in the run that culminated with BATMAN #50. And now we’re back to tell a story that breaks everything apart. This will be the definitive project of our careers. METAL takes us in an entirely new direction. Greg and I will dig beneath the surface of all the stories we’ve told to find a place of terror and twisted nightmares.”

When it comes to Batman, Snyder, and Capullo coming together, fans can’t help themselves but to get really hyped for this event. I’m sure this event promises to go to 11 but what do you think? Let us know in the comment section if you are excited (or not) for the next big event from DC.
