Last week Warner Bros. announced that Zachary Levi has been cast as the original Captain Marvel in the upcoming New Line Cinema film, Shazam. This week it’s now been revealed that screenwriter, Adam Sztykiel is in negotiations to write the closely-related Black Adam film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Sztykiel is best known for comedies such as Due Date and Made of Honor as well as the NBC show Undateable. He is also part of the writing team for the upcoming Johnson film, Rampage Based on the classic 1980s video game.

For those that don’t know, Black Adam is a supervillain that was previously scheduled to appear in the Shazam film as Captain Marvel’s archnemesis. But since Johnson has been tied to the project for so long, he was connected before his current level of stardom. Now because of his A-List status, Warner Bros. wants to capitalize on him as much as possible and have chosen to give him his own film.

It isn’t officially stated anywhere yet, but you can be sure not only will Black Adam cross paths with Captain Marvel in the future, but it’s safe to say he will come across Superman at some point in the future as well.
