Next month, in Toronto, David F. Sandberg’s Shazam! will begin shooting. They’re still not done figuring out the full cast, but Ron Cephas Jones is in talks to play the Wizard who gives Billy Batson his powers.
In the comics, The Wizard gives young Billy Batson the magical powers to transform himself into an adult superhero by yelling “Shazam!”. He also gave powers to Black Adam who will be played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in a future movie. I guess we’ll have to wait to see what happens.
The movie stars Asher Angel as Billy Batson and Zachary Levi as Shazam, who have both been in Toronto training and script reading. Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019.
