Nightwing director Chris McKay wasn’t fooling around when he said the planned Nightwing movie would be a long process!

This past week it was reported by Variety that McKay is in talks to direct Paramount Pictures Dungeons and Dragons movie. The movie has a planned release date of July 2021 which puts Nightwing at least 5 years away, that’s assuming McKay moves straight into Nightwing from there.

As we already know, McKay has no plans of dropping out of the project in the same way Joss Whedon did with Batgirl. He told fans this past week that Warner Bros. would have to fire him to get him off the project.

While Nightwing appears to be way off in the distance, Warner Bros. are moving forward with plenty of DC Comics movies over the next few years. Shazam, Wonder Woman 2 and Suicide Squad 2 are all heading into production this year with The Batman and Flashpoint rumoured to be high on their list of priorities.

Are you disappointed the Nightwing movie is further away than first thought? Let us know in the comments section.
