From the landmark maxi-series Crisis on Infinite Earths, to Infinite Crisis, to Identity Crisis and to Final Crisis, DC Comics and the word ‘Crisis’ have had a long history together. For a time, DC seemed through using the term when they launched event series like Blackest Night and Flashpoint, but Tom King is bringing it back with Heroes in Crisis.

Heroes in Crisis is a new miniseries King wrote with co-creator Clay Mann. The series will center around Sanctuary, a trauma center for superheroes. The Sanctuary will be founded by the trinity of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman, but the book will explore what happens when it actually fails to provide for its patients.

King had this to say about the project:

I feel like I’m part of a rolling generation of people who spent their twenties overseas fighting terrorism. Millions of people cycle through that machine and come home to America. And I think that sort of experience of violence is shaping who we are as a culture, and as a country. And I want to talk about that. I want to talk about that experience, the experience of what violence can do to a person, to a community, to a nation, to a world.

Heroes in Crisis #1 is scheduled for a September 26 release date.
