The World Blames Lex Luthor in ‘Shazam’

The first trailer for Shazam has quite a few fun Easter eggs. From the shirts that Freddy Freeman wears referencing the super-heroes, to the memorabilia and articles he has collected over time regarding them.

A Shazam prop that didn’t make it into the trailer but is most likely another piece in his collection is a framed copy of The Daily Planet which has the headline of “Superman is Back.” Further down the page, there is another article “Alien Attack on the World” and “Russia Cleans Up” alluding to the attack by Steppenwolf and his parademons. It puts Lex Luthor as the main suspect that caused the invasion. The ad reads: “The Top Suspect: As a worldwide search begins for those responsible, specialists say early signs point to Lex Luthor and his associates.”

There is no mention of Steppenwolf, but the article isn’t far from the truth. For anyone that saw Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Ultimate Edition, we know that it was Luthor’s tampering with Kryptonian technology that alerted Apokolips and Steppenwolf of Earth.
