Suicide Squad Director David Ayers Meets With Acclaimed Writer Paul Dini

Shortly after the release of Suicide Squad, development projects sprung up vigorously over at Warner Bros with talk of developing Birds of Prey and Gotham City Sirens movies based around DC’s most iconic villains. One critical component of those talks was determining which movie would be best for the rising stardom of Margot Robbie, who although the film Suicide Squad was critically panned, was a revelation in her role in Harley Quinn and quickly became a fan favorite.

Recently, Margot Robbie announced that she would be moving forward on the Birds Of Prey movie with the goal of beginning shooting on that film early 2019. When that news was announced, most fans figured that the Gotham City Sirens movie would be put on the back burner while Warner Bros developed and released a host of other movies in the coming years.

That back burner seems to have a gotten a little bit hotter with a recent tweet from Ayers. Take a look for yourself:

The tweet doesn’t mention anything about Gotham City Sirens or any project for that matter. But the absence of information has left fans speculating as to whether or not Dini is being consulted for the GCS movie since he was the writer for the comic book series that started back in June of 2009.

That comic book series featured prominent and fan favorite Batman villainesses Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman teaming up shortly after the Hush storyline but would stop once DC comics began getting ready for big changes with the coming of the New 52 relaunch.

Perhaps Dini wasn’t there to meet with Ayers about the GCS movie; perhaps he was there to discuss a different undisclosed project? Maybe they just wanted a nice dinner to catch up as friends? Can’t know for sure but we’re hoping that GCS is still being worked on.

Here at DCN, we want to know what you think. Do you think DC should still work on a Gotham City Sirens movie? Does DC have to much in development right now? Should they focus on a small number of movies before anything else? Let us know down below.
