Summary

Jesse returns home for what he hopes is the last time but angers Starr and endangers Cassidy in the process; Tulip battles hell and Nazis.

Positives

What a hell of a time! The season finale did not disappoint and set up a great new season to come. With Jesse returned to full power the Genesis is not held back and no longer locked away. Cassidy executed his plan for escape getting revenge on the cannibalistic vampire  that kept him crucified. While we have seen Cassidy be sneaky before this put a whole new layer on him to survive on his own without the help of Jesse and Tulip, when God disclosed to Tulip that Cassidy was very close to death I expected Tulip to bust in and save the day as she did so many times before but it was so refreshing to have him take on the big bad on his own and come out on top. Speaking of Tulip we got some great fight scenes between Tulip and the Nazi “saviors” that came for Hitler. Arseface was definitely set up for a great role in the future after his realization that Jessie is still alive and leaving with the Saint of Killers, paying off that little adoption storyline. All in all this was a great way to end the season and set up a war to come between Jesse and Herr Starr, our heroes are reuniting and getting ready for what will be an amazing season to come.

Negatives

The Nazi’s were a great social commentary including one wearing a MAGA hat during the final battle however they were quickly dispatched and didn’t serve much of a purpose to Hitlers story, yea they showed up but how did Hitler rally them so well? He didn’t take advantage of the situation even before Arseface got involved leaving them as lambs to the slaughter. The other big tiff I had with the episode was the inclusion of Azreal taunting the Saint of Killers when only moments ago she was trying to be sympathetic to him asking if his back was better and then fought side by side with him dispatching the Nazi’s. The moment seemed shoe horned in like it was just something that had to happen to move the story along without any real motivation behind it. The  Devil being killed and Hitler taking over leads me to believe we wont be visiting hell much anymore next season, Hitler was seen so little this season I doubt next season will be any different or involve any major plot with him ruling hell.

Verdict

We had a hell of a time this season during preacher with the gang. While we had our ups and downs, the season did not disappoint and added a whole new dimension to the story. Jesse made a great full circle journey, Tulip discovered her roots and who she is and Cassidy well Cassidy got a few moments of his own. This season was great and I cant wait for the war to come!
