The ‘Suicide Squad 2’ Script Is Complete

Nothing is better for a movie fan than a completed draft to a sequel, and now DC fans can add Suicide Squad 2 to that list.

Todd Stashwick, who is co-writer of Suicide Squad 2 with David Bar Katz and Gavin O’Connor has reported that the final draft of the script is complete.  While no details about the concept or plot details of the movie could be revealed, Stashwick did have something to say about the process:

“We have finished our draft and I’m really proud of it…Gavin O’Connor, who is directing and writing Suicide Squad 2, I worked on a project with him [Jane Got a gun] as my director.  And so we had a great rapport and a great relationship.  And then this project came about, and he and I started talking, and he appreciated my deep love for the franchise, for DC.  He [Gavin O’Connor] could see that this is something that I have a deep passion for, and that I understand the genre.  That’s kind of what I like to write in.  And then once we started bouncing ideas band and forth…There’s a third writer, David Bar Katz, the three of us are writing it together.  And so once we started talking and just bouncing ideas back and forth, he was like ‘This is the team.  This is who I want for this.’  There are the characters I read about, these are the films that I delight in.  I love the Marvel films, but the opportunity to be invited into a project that I’m passionate about is yet another bucket list that I get to check off.”

Stashwick, a self-proclaimed “DC Guy” and a huge fan of the characters in DC Comics said he and his co-writers worked hard to craft something they are proud of and that his experience with the characters tailer-suited him to join the DC Films Universe.

Originally Suicide Squad 2 was supposed to begin shooting in fall of 2018 but was pushed back to 2019 due to star Margot Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn in the upcoming Birds of Prey film that will unite Quinn with DC heroines Black Canary, Huntress, Renee Montoya, and Cassandra Cain.

Warner Bros and DC Films currently have no release date for Suicide Squad 2.
