The prolific and accomplished musical duo of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have signed on to be music composers and scorers for the upcoming HBO series based on the iconic Watchmen universe.

If you are not familiar with the musical collaborations of Reznor and Ross, the pair won an Oscar for their score of The Social Network back in 2010. They have also continued to work with the director of that film, David Fincher, on other projects such The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl, the last of which earned the artist a Grammy for Best Score Soundtrack for a Visual Medium.

Many music fans will recognize Trent Reznor as the genius behind Nine Inch Nails, an industrial rock group that’s been making records since 1989. Reznor has acquired numerous accolades and respect from the musical industry before he even began to get into scoring films.

For those unfamiliar with his music, it can be described as a heavy rock sound backed by synths and other computerized sounds that add a ‘metallic’ quality to his sound. As for the film scores, computerized glitches, beeps, and keyboards produced often haunting sounds that compliment films without necessarily over-shadowing what’s on screen.
