It seems the upcoming DC Universe series, Stargirl, will feature much more than just the titular character. The latest round of casting news reveals some of the characters that will appear on the show.

First up, Lou Ferrigno Jr. has been cast as Rex Tyler, the Golden Age Hourman. Hourman is a founding member of the Justice Society of America. He uses a drug called Miraclo that gives him powers for one hour with each dose.

Next, Joel McHale has been tapped to play the role of Sylvester Pemberton. Sylvester Pemberton is the Golden Age Starman and another founding member of the JSA. He wields an anti-gravity weapon called the cosmic staff and has a sidekick named Stripesy. Stripsey is actually Stargirl’s stepfather, Pat Dugan.

Finally, Brian Stapf has been cast as Ted Grant aka Wildcat. Also a founding member of the JSA, Ted Grant doesn’t have powers but is an excellent boxer.

Considering both Hourman and Wildcat have been seen recently on the CW series DC Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow, it answers the question some fans have had as to whether or not this series exists in that universe. But just because they don’t, that does not exclude the possibility of a multiverse type of crossover, especially with Crisis on Infinite Earths being adapted as the next big CW crossover.

Stargirl is produced by Berlanti Prods. and Mad Ghost Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Geoff Johns serves as showrunner. The series is slated to premiere on the DC Universe streaming service some time in 2019.
