Jai Courtney is already hard at work training for his role as Captain Boomerang in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie.
David Ayer, who will be directing the movie from a script he wrote himself, shared a behind-the-scenes photo via Twitter. The picture shows Courtney throwing a jab or two. Though the picture is blurry, Courtney can be seen sporting mutton chops, which is signature to Captain Boomerang’s appearance in the comics. Will Courtney be seen wearing Captain Boomerang’s signature boomerang-patterned jumpsuit and scarf as well?
Arrow recently featured a live-action take on the character, portrayed by actor Nick Tarabay.The character was introduced in the seventh episode of the show’s third season, and then crossed over in the eighth episode of The Flash‘s first season. This iteration of Digger Harkness, or as The Flash‘s Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdez) aptly named him, Captain Boomerang, was a former A.R.G.U.S operative with a blood thirst for his former employers.
However, for fans who are familiar with Captain Boomerang of the comics, this new photo offers some hints about the character’s new big screen incarnation.
The film will also star two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith as Deadshot; Tom Hardy as Rick Flag; Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn; Oscar winner Jared Leto as the Joker; and Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. Academy Award and People’s Choice Award winner Viola Davis is reportedly in final negotiations to play Amanda Waller.
Suicide Squad is set to be released on August 5th, 2016.
