Smallville was a unique show that brought us originality spanning over ten seasons and with that we saw Rosenbaum deliver us an amazing portrayal of the Superman’s arch nemesis, Lex Luthor.
Rosenbaum left the show a few series before we all got to see Clark become “Superman”, there are enough fans out there who would want him to come back and reprise his role as the bald-headed evil threat Lex. While promoting his new film. “Back in the Day” Rosenbaum was asked  in a recent interview if he may have been contacted to play Luthor in the upcoming blockbuster Batman vs Superman (2015).
Rosenbaum said, “The fans have been unbelievable. They’ve tweeted me, I’ve tweeted back…I’ve been to conventions and they always ask me, “Would you do it?” And I’m not an idiot, of course I’d do it. I’d love to do it. But I think Joaquin Phoenix is probably gonna do it or somebody. I’m a big Zack Snyder fan. Obviously, I think I could play the role. I would do it in a heartbeat, but I don’t hold my breath because I know there’s the stigma, “He was the TV Smallville Lex Luthor.” I say that sarcastically, but I think it’s a shame. If people like the role and what I did with it, then they should consider it. But I’m not the director. I’m not the producer. Long story short, I’d do it in a fucking heartbeat.”
The evidence is right there that Rosenbaum would love the opportunity to try out for the role of Lex, he wants to do it and he thinks he can do it. Or has Warner Brothers decided to go with a different take of the character that someone like a Joaquin Phoenix would be better suited to? Only time will tell.
