Another Batman-to-be villain has been cast in the upcoming “Gotham”, Cory Michael Smith has been pegged to play Edward Nygma aka The Riddler.
Smith is coming off of HBO miniseries Olive Kitteridge with Frances McDormand and turns in Todd Haynes’ Carol, opposite Cate Blanchett, and Camp X-Ray with Kristen Stewart.
In this prequel show about the origins of  every character in the Batman universe Smith is playing Nygma, a brilliant but socially awkward forensic scientist who’s eccentric, outgoing and desperate to be liked.
Smith is only appearing as a guest star in the pilot episode but if all works out he may end up as a series regular, joining a cast of villains played by Robin Taylor Lord and Jada Pinkett Smith. The show is headlined by Ben Mckenzie as young Jim Gordon and David Mazouz as young Bruce Wayne.
