Earlier this week, it was revealed that viewers would see a new superhero suit very early on. Whether it will be Arsenal in his tailored red or Speedy in her black and gold, we do not know. Roy Harper did get his mask and Thea did leave with her biological father, archer Malcolm Merlyn.
Personally, since the league of assassins have been featured, I’d like to see Cheshire, the new 52 Cheshire with her happy go lucky attitude and quirky spirit. Considering that, Amell has stated:
“DC is a really good partner for us, and they’re giving us access to characters that they wouldn’t have even considered giving us in the first season and they wouldn’t have given us in the second season. But I think we’ve proven ourselves. I think we’ve proven that we can present a worthy version of characters that people care a lot about, and so I would imagine that there would be no shortages of DC characters coming.”
So I can hope. But with that statement he added another, dropping the hint that Batman villains are going to be featured in the show.
“If you like some of the enemies Batman has fought, you’re really going to like Season Three.”
As a huge Batman fan, I’m eagerly awaiting to see which ones will be making an appearance on the show. Will it be Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn, taking a night out on the town? Harley Quinn has already been hinted at within the confines of A.R.G.U.S. as a member of the Suicide Squad, so we’re likely to see her someone soon. But considering she’s sort of left in the comics, getting her own series and doing her own adorable thing, it would be nice to see her act outside of the Squad and maybe creating some wonderful hilarious mayhem with her best buddy Poison Ivy.
That’s just me though, being silly and hopeful considering the highly speculated and hinted at role would be Ra’s Al Ghul. Throughout Season 2 his name was dropped repeatedly, and Amell even stated that he wanted to see him on the show. His eldest daughter, Nyssa, often overshadowed in the comics by her younger sister Talia, was showcased in the series, a refreshing and strong take on her characters filling up the screen.
The official press release for Season 3 did reveal many of the struggles that Oliver will face in the upcoming season. It reads as follows:
“After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. He returned home to Starling City, bent on righting the wrongs of his family and fighting injustice.
To do this, he creates the persona of the Arrow and allies himself with former military man John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), street brawler Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) and international assassin Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), while keeping his secret from those closest to him including his sister Thea (Willa Holland), who has allied herself with his most deadly enemy. Rivalries and allegiances will shift as Oliver faces his most difficult challenge yet.”
Filming for the third season of ‘Arrow’ will begin this July.
