Arrow/Flash spin-off to introduce Hawkgirl and two new heroes into the series!
Ciara Renée, has been cast as Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl in the Arrow/Flash spin-off show. Deadline reports that the part of Kendra Saunders is a lead role in the show. Renée made her debut on Broadway in Big Fish and had taken on the lead role in the revival of Pippen. Recently she appeared on the TV series Law and Order: SVU.
Her role for the Arrow/Flash spin-off was described as:
“FEMALE WARRIOR” | This twentysomething Latina is pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others.
Renée will be joining an already impressive cast which includes, Ray Palmer-Atom (Brandon Routh), Prof. Martin Stein-Firestorm (Victor Garber), Sara Lance-Black Canary (Caity Lotz), and two new heroes yet to be revealed! Wentworth Miller will reprise his role as Leonard Snart-Cold and appear in the first episode.
It would seem, they are basing this character on the current Hawkgirl of Earth 2, Kendra Munoz-Saunders.

Powers
- Flight: Following the discovery of Nabu’s Tomb, Kendra was bestowed large wings through as of yet undisclosed means. With her wings, Kendra is capable of unassisted flight and as she’s possessed these powers a fairly long amount of time she’s notably highly proficient in their use. While in the air, Kendra has displayed complete aerial superiority as she’s capable of easily performing difficult maneuvers in midair with great fluidity and skill.
Abilities
- Firearms: Kendra is highly proficient in the use of various firearms, typically opting to use two handguns in combat. She’s demonstrated remarkable accuracy with them and combines them with her powers of flight to impressive effect.
- Archery: In addition to her skill with firearms, Kendra is also highly skilled with her crossbow, being capable of firing bolts with unerring accuracy.
- Archaeology: As a world renowned treasure hunter, Kendra is highly knowledgeable within this field.
Just two more heroes to go and we’ll have the full team roster and hopefully the show’s official title! The official descriptions for those last two heroes are below:
“TRAVELER”| Described as a “Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.
“MYSTERY HERO” | An African-American male in his twenties will fill the role of a regular, street smart guy who unexpectedly gains powers, and then, as part of the team, regularly quips about the insanity of the situations.
