After the crushing blow of losing director Michelle MacLaren the Wonder Woman film will be in hurry-up mode. The team involved with the movie will presumably be in somewhat of a rush to get another director attached to the film as soon as possible. In other related news, it was confirmed the Fury’s Scott Eastwood will not be playing Wonder Woman’s love interest Steve Trevor.
When the rumor first came out a few months ago about Eastwood playing the male lead in the Wonder Woman movie weren’t that far off. Classic case of right actor, wrong movie. Eastwood will definitely be a part of DC cinematic universe just not alongside Gal Gadot. He will be teaming up with David Ayer again to take part in the Suicide Squad film.
Variety reports that with Eastwood being out as Steve Trevor, offers went out to four different actors on Monday in regards to the male lead. The shortlist of actors up for the part is unconfirmed. According to the DC 5-year movie plan Wonder Woman is third in line. As of right now Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently in post-production. The upcoming Suicide Squad film has just commenced filming. The search for a director and a male lead will be in full force until both spots are occupied. DC/WB will want to move fast if they want to keep on schedule with their 5-year line-up.
Wonder Woman’s first solo big screen adventure comes to theatres June 23, 2017.
