CW’s The Flash has officially cast Wally West!
The upcoming second season of the hit superhero series is chock full of new characters, including some more speedsters such as Zoom, Jay Garrick (being played by Teddy Sears) and Wally West, and we now know who will be playing the third incarnation of the flash…Keiynan Lonsdale.
Lonsdale will join the cast of The Flash as a series regular this fall. You may know him from his recent role in the second film in the Divergent series, Insurgent as Uriah, a role he will be reprising in the next film in the series, Allegiant: Part 1.
Andrew Kreisberg had this to say:
Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show.
In the comics, Wally was the nephew of Iris West. During a visit to the Central City police laboratory where Barry Allen worked, the freak accident that gave Allen his powers repeated itself, bathing West in electrically-charged chemicals. He went on to don a smaller sized copy of Barry Allen’s Flash outfit and became the young crime-fighter known as Kid Flash, and eventually would take on the mantle of The Flash.
Wally West is probably most well known from the animated series’ Justice League/Justice League Unlimited (as The Flash, voiced by Michael Rosenbaum) and Young Justice (as Kid Flash, voiced by Jason Spisak).
The Flash season 2 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015 at 8/7c on The CW.
