In this episode, Liv eats the brain of a basketball coach.
The episode begins with a security guard being shot. It turns out that the guard coached little league basketball and Liv convinces Major to take over. The episode ends with the discovery that a businessman who worked in the building with the security guard killed a man who came to collect debt money. The businessman called someone to help dispose of the body and this man shot the security guard.
Positives
The episode has the same level of humor that this show usually delivers. Liv as a major basketball fan is pretty funny and the writers get a lot of mileage out of it. Additionally, it gives the writers a good way to get Major out of his funk. It’s good to see that Major has already gotten rid of the utopium. That was already wearing thin and it was nice to see it resolved.
The “fight” scene between Ravi and Blaine over the tainted utopium is hilarious. Physical comedy is a lost art and the episode took full advantage of it in this scene.
Negatives
The subplot with Liv’s new roommate just isn’t working. Nothing to do with this company is interesting. I appreciate the idea of setting up this huge big bad but it seems inappropriate for this show. I would much rather deal with murder mysteries. This corporate stuff is dull.
Verdict
This episode is fun. The comedy works well and there is a good twist. I look forward to the rest of the season.
