Review: Harley Quinn and Power Girl #5

Harley Quinn and Power Girl’s adventure through space continues.  They have accidentally unleashed the Harvester of Sorrow and it’s up to Harley to stop it.

The Positive

Harley PG 5 3Harley’s fun and irreverent style continues to put them all in mortal danger but then also saves the day.  The Harvester looks like a cross between Galactus and John Travolta in Battlefield Earth.  So big that his pores can swallow a man whole.

Harley manages to save the day by interacting with the monster, once it got a sample of her thought process it destroyed itself.  Turns out her own personal brand of crazy mixed with her time with the Joker was enough to overload and destroy the Harvester.

As a big Metallica fan, I enjoyed the references to the song “Harvester of Sorrow” once the gigantic monster was unleashed.

The Negative

This side story has really been running on a one-note premise, and I’m not sure it needed to be 5 issues.  They probably could have focused the story down some.  It’s still a fun story, but I would like to see a bit more variety.

Harley PG 5 4

The Verdict

Harley’s adventures continue to be the best kind of madcap romp, but maybe it’s time for Harley and PG to move on to a new adventure.
