The newest Supergirl trailer has given fans a look at Tyler Hoechlin’s portrayal of the Man of Steel. Superman will make his debut in Season 2 of the show, and will appear in the first two episodes. Not much is known about his upcoming appearance except that he will be helping Kara deal with the arrivals of both Mon-El and Metallo. Mon-El arrived at the end of Season 1 in a Kryptonian rocket. Superman’s appearances in the first season were obscure, shadowed by light or distance never seeing him up close and personal. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg gave this statement:
“The show’s called Supergirl and it’s about Supergirl. It’s not like we’ve been jonesing to have Superman on it.”
The show has Superman swoop in and save his cousin every so often, but he is not the main focus of the storyline because this show is all about Kara. The show has included Superman in all of the promotions and even referenced certain Superman comics in the first season. Supergirl’s second season brings in Dichen Lachman as Roulette, Hoechlin’s Superman, Sharon Leal as Miss Martian, Mon-El played by Chris Wood, Ian Gomez as Snapper Carr, and Floriana Lima as Maggie Sawyer.
Supergirl returns to the CW on October 10th and airs Monday nights at 8pm EST.
