DC’s leading creative writers and artists have come together to unveil a great series of comics called Dark Matter at C2E2!
Starting this August DC will launch these new titles: Dark Nights: Metal, The Silencer, Sideways, Immortal Men, Damage, and New Challengers, which make up the Dark Matter series, with an all-star cast of artists including Greg Capullo, Andy Kubert, and Jim Lee, as well as John Romita, Jr.
Joining the team are Dan Abnett – worked on Judge Dredd, The Legion, and Resurrection Man; Tony S. Daniel – worked on Teen Titans, Batman, and Battle for the Cowl; Dan DiDio – helped write Phantom Stranger, New 52, and of course had work in the DC Rebirth; Justin Jordan – helped write Green Lantern: New Guardians, The Strange Talents of Luthor, and Deathstroke; Kenneth Rocafort – you may recognize his work on Red Hood & The Outlaws, Superman, and Teen Titans; Scott Snyder – which has handed us great stories in Detective Comics, Gates of Gotham, and most recently, All-Star Batman; James Tynion IV – wrote Batman: Eternal, Gotham Academy, and Constantine to name a few; and Robert Venditti whom you may recognize his writing in Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, and or Secret Origins.
Publisher Dan DiDio had this to say about his feelings on the creation and development of the Dark Matter series,
What excites me most is that this series of books takes full advantage of the talent and vision of the creative team…Comics are a visual medium and with these titles, the artists are working hand in hand with the writers in shaping the look and direction of their characters. In reaffirming the craft of making comics, we’ve brought together a master class of talent, led by Greg Capullo, Andy Kubert, Jim Lee and John Romita Jr., to help set the style, tone and visual direction for these books. With these four industry giants taking the lead, I feel we can bring the power and energy expected from superhero storytelling back to the page.
DC has stated that they are going to be releasing interviews with the writers as well as the artists from the comfort of their homes to help really drive home each person’s individual aspect and love for the talent that they bring to the series.
