Recently, Charlize Theron revealed that she passed on playing a role in the DC Extended Universe film, Wonder Woman. Theron, who’s known for her roles as strong and powerful women in various films, would’ve been perfect in the film which propagates feminism. As it turns out, Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman, reached out to Charlize, offering her a role in the film. Unfortunately, Theron explains that there were some other things she was doing around the time the film was in production.
This week when she visited The Howard Stern Show, Charlize elaborated on the reason why she was ultimately not able to be in Wonder Woman.
“No, I’m not in Wonder Woman. We’re friends. I think the world of her. We have a mutual respect for each other. She did come to me, and at the time I was either working on something or I don’t know. There was a reason I couldn’t do it.”
Although she didn’t reveal what role she was supposed to play, it would not be that hard to imagine her as one of the Amazonian warriors in Wonder Woman. She could have easily joined in the ranks of capable and strong women in Jenkins’ film, like Connie Nielsen’s Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright’s Antiope.
And it seems that Theron doesn’t have any regrets not being in the movie given that she has a lot on her plate right now.
