Filmmaker Christopher Nolan has proven himself a perfectionist and is especially always on board to enhance the audience experience when it comes to his own feature films. He provocatively pushed the boundaries of IMAX and often tested the wider-screen delivery of the expansive nearly 5-story canvas provided by the technology to bring the narrative to all-new levels. Nolan used the technology often during the production of his now classic The Dark Knight Trilogy and fans of those films and the filmmaker will soon be able to bring home a new box set!

While promoting his historical war film Dunkirk Nolan took advantage of the promotional tour to confirm that he’ll be personally working on the 4K Ultra HD releases of his biggest hits including The Dark Knight Trilogy which will be released on December 19th just in time for the holidays. The director gave props to the format insisting, “The deeper color palette comes closer to matching the analogue colors of film and we’ve restored the original theatrical mixes for the release. This is the best experience you can have in your own home.”

Movie fans at home are truly motivated to replicate their theatrical experiences especially as 4K HDR flatscreen televisions become more affordable. Directors like Nolan are impassioned no doubt that their original films can now be presented just as they had always imagined, and given the more widespread accessibility and popularity of the 4K HD format, including on smartTV and media devices like AppleTV and Roku, filmgoers will soon be able to beat the crowds at the concession stands and enjoy a cinematic experience in their own living rooms.

Christopher Nolan continues among this contemporaries to promote home entertainment viewing and perhaps it won’t be long before studios make first-run features available for home viewing especially as the technology catches up to whatever is competing for seats at the cineplex!

Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight,” and “The Dark Knight Rises” will be available as “The Dark Knight Trilogy” on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack for $70.99, and features the three films on 4K Ultra HD with the feature films in 4K with HDR, Blu-ray discs of the three films in hi-definition, bonus Blu-ray Discs with behind-the-scenes content and special features, and a Digital copy of the films.
