The recent popularity of the Doomsday Clock series has proven to the public that there still is interest in the world created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons all those years ago.
In a recent interview for Patrick Wilson’s newest film, The Commuter, which he stars with Liam Neeson, the question of reprising his role of Nite Owl came up. as the reboot by Lost’s Damen Lindelof has sparked interest, speculation as to whom will be donning the roles in the upcoming series has began, and Patrick had this to say:
“It was such a joy shooting that movie, I wanted there to be more of them,” Wilson said. “I’ve wanted to play Dan [Dreiberg] again. I certainly think we’re all more age appropriate now!”
Unfortunately, no contact has been made to the original cast by HBO or by the creative team behind the reboot:
“I’d love to play [Dan] now but no, there’s been no talk, I’m just a fan like you are.”
Wilson and the rest of the cast would unquestionably be closer to the age of the characters as Moore originally wrote it, but his involvement in the DC Universe is far from over as he will be seen next in the upcoming Aquaman as Ocean Master. It would be nice to see these same actors occupy the same roles years later, but I have a feeling that Lindelof will pull off something masterful nonetheless.
