Almost 20 years ago, Peter Jackson made cinematic history when he began his adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of The Rings trilogy. He then later added a three-part prequel series based upon Tolkien’s first novel, The Hobbit. And now, Onering.net claims Peter’s possibly setting his sights on either a Middle-Earth series for Amazon’s streaming service, or a treatment for the DCEU.
This news correlates with a recent Tweet by @Daniel RPK – the individual responsible for a report that a “big director” was circling the much-suffering cinematic universe of DC Comics. In the post, he claimed “Not just one, but there are three big name directors that could join the DCEU. Only one of them is as big as Spielberg tho. At least in my opinion.”
If Jackson is indeed being approached by DC Entertainment to helm one of their properties, the logical question to ask is which is he best suited for? Given his ability to handle an ensemble cast to the point of perfection, seeing him direct a Justice League or Teen Titans or any other superhero team film isn’t outside the realm of possibilities.
More as it develops.
