With Geoff Johns moving to work on film full-time, and fans still waiting on that Aquaman trailer, plus the constant will-it-or-won’t-it be part of DCEU that The Batman and possible Joker film bring with them, it’s no wonder that people are concerned about the status of the DCEU as a whole.
Since it is next on the slate (releasing this December,)Â there is a lot riding on James Wan’s Aquaman. Recently, Toby Emmerich spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the film and where the DCEU is heading.
In his interview with EW, Warner Bros. film executive Toby Emmerich praised Wan’s work on Aquaman, teasing that the film is “taking you to a different place and imagining the underwater world in a way you haven’t seen before.” Further, Aquaman producer Peter Safran spoke about what Wan brings to the DC Comics movie universe. He said: “[Aquaman has] got the great action you expect, it’s got a lot of great humor, it works on so many levels … it’s a testament to James’ unique vision. I think it’s an extraordinary step in [the] DC Universe that sets it on the right path.”
So hopefully we will soon see the trailer that was shown at CineEurope this week and we can judge for ourselves if Aquaman looks to be the course correction some say the DCEU needs.
Aquaman hits theaters on December 21, 2018.
