Back in May, Arrow star Stephen Amell revealed that the next Arrowverse crossover would bring Batwoman and Gotham City to the TV multiverse. Details on how and why Kate Kane’s alter ego would be introduced have been scarce but thanks to the recent casting breakdowns for season seven of Arrow, we may have our first description of Batwoman.
That Hashtag Show received the breakdown for three new characters set to join Arrow for it’s upcoming season. The first two, a 30-40s “intimating” male named “Dover” and a 30-something female mercenary named “Leah” are likely just two new influential characters for the season with little interest regarding our possible Batwoman.
Character three however is a little more interesting and is currently known as “Angelina”. Angelina is described as a diverse woman in her 30s and a fierce fighter despite “a small stature.” Angeline is experienced in stealth and able to “wipe out buildings filled with foes all by herself before she is gone like a ghost.” Angeline thinks very highly of her abilities and will be recurring presence in Arrow season 7. The description for Angela doesn’t quite fit that of Batwoman but is certainly a step in the right direction.
Batwoman is usually depicted as having a similar height and body type to her cousin Batman so the description of her being “a small stature” doesn’t really fit, however all other areas make for a very close description of Batwoman. There are few DC heroes that can escape “like a ghost” after wiping out an entire building. That description just screams Bat.
With Batwoman making her debut in the Arrowverse crossover, we can expect to have already been introduced to Kate Kane prior to the annual event. Arrow often uses a lot of the same themes as a regular Batman story so with Star City without it’s main vigilante, following Oliver’s arrest its conceivable that a new hero may emerge to fill the hole.
At this point all is pure speculation and whether Angelina is Batwoman or not the one thing we do know for sure is that Batwoman will appear in the Arrowverse crossover event, but the burning questions remains, how, why and what role will she play if any in the story arc for Arrow season seven.
