Dwayne Johnson has confirmed that he will not be making a cameo in the upcoming Shazam! movie. It was originally understood that Johnson had signed onto play the role of main villain in the film however, somewhere along the line plans changed and Black Adam is now heading for a solo outing.
In a recent interview with Syfi, Johnson confirmed he was still ready and willing to play Black Adam and that plans were in motion to begin filming late in 2019. he also confirmed that he will not be making a cameo appearance in Shazam! stating:
“I’m not in that one. It’s Shazam and Black Adam and, with the way the DC universe works, we should — in theory — meet up on the big screen. But who knows?”
Its understood that the makers of Shazam! may have had difficulties fitting Johnson into their plans due to his hectic schedule. Johnson is one of Hollywood’s most popular actors right now and works to an insane schedule with projects lined up through 2018 and 2019. Before shooting begins on Black Adam, Johnson is due to film Jumanji 3 as well as Red Notice, an action movie about a pair of Interpol agent’s, co-starring Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot.
