Henry Cavill on Superman: “I’ve Not Given Up On The Role”
For as long as any DC fan can remember, rumors of Henry Cavill being removed from the Superman role have been running rampant. Last fall, more reports exploded about Cavill being done as Superman. The rumors grew after the casting announcement came that he would be portraying Geralt in The Witcher for Netflix.
After this news broke, Cavill’s manager asked fans “to be peaceful” and that “the cape is still in his closet”. This, however, did little to nothing to quell the rumors of Cavill not playing the Man of Steel any longer.
These rumors have always been a major disappointment to fans of the DCEU as many have rallied around Cavill as their Superman.
Fast forward a year.
Many fans are eagerly anticipating the debut of The Witcher (December 20th on Netflix) yet the entire would wants to know, will Henry Cavill ever play Superman again?
Well after a year of sitting quiet and biding his time, Cavill has finally broken his silence on the issue.
In an interview with Men’s Health, Cavill had this to say:
“I’m not just going to sit quietly in the dark as all this stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”
This can only be speculated as good news for fans of Cavill and his version of Superman.
In the world of superheroes, nothing is impossible even Henry Cavill returning as Superman.
We’ll just have to see..
